Product Description

For those looking to maximize performance, a compressor bypass valve (CBV) upgrade is essential to sustain peak boost levels and extend reliability of your turbocharger. All Volvo turbochargers are fitted with a stock CBV which utilizes a rubber diaphragm and spring to recirculate boost back into the intake system. Because the stock CBV is designed for stock boost levels, its lifespan is significantly shortened once you increase boost (tuned engine software, etc.)

S40/V50 and C30/C70 CBV Upgrade Features

The S40/V50 and C30/C70 CBV Upgrade Kit for the KKK K04 turbocharger features a piston/spring operated valve for maximum reliability. Whereas a rubber diaphragm can get brittle and potentially crack from overuse/aging, a piston style valve is much more durable. The CBV also has an enlarged recirculation valve to accommodate the increased boost/air flow from tuned engines, minimizing boost spiking, etc. The S40/V50 and C30/C70 CBV Upgrade is fitted with a spring suited for up to 1bar boost.

Vehicle Fitment:

  • 2004.5 - 2010 S40, V50 T5 (FWD/AWD)
  • 2006 - 2010 C70 II T5
  • 2007 - 2010 C30 T5

While you're at it...

If you plan on replacing your CBV with one of our upgrade kits, we also highly recommend replacing the original rubber vacuum lines with more durable silicone lines. The rubber vacuum lines can harden and get brittle due to excessive heat and aging, which will ultimately lead to a boost leak! We offer replacement 4mm ID Silicone Vacuum Lines in either blue, black or red colors! Click here for more info...

  1. No Instructions/ Hard install

Posted by Matt on 4th Mar 2012

On the s40 the install took about 2 hours because the bolts are VERY hard to get to. It is doable but requires patience. There are no instructions supplied and you have to pay attention which way you you put it in or it wount bybass the air in the right direction. Luckily I noticed and oriented it right. The two springs are nice, as I have a tune. Holds boost better than OEM platic junk.

  2. Great replacement for OEM and or tuned engines.

This valve is a great replacement for the stock OEM CBV because of its greater durability and does not contain the weak rubber factory diaphragm. The until comes with 2 springs, green and yellow. Use the green spring for factory boost levels (5-15 PSI) use the yellow for stage 2+ (15-23). You can purchase more springs from Forge if you require higher boost than that. The install is pretty easy, but will take patience as the bolts are hard to get to. This is a great time to replace your OEM rubber hoses with new silicone hose. This holds boost very well, and is a solid rugged part. Most report the factory one having some issues after 50K miles, so stock or not, I would go with this as the replacement.
