Taking on the five-cylinder Audi RS3, we set out a number of targets. First, output capability. With several options already on the market, our ambition was to deliver a system capable of supporting power levels around 1000 hp.
Second, to remove all bottlenecks, both the air filter and pipe diameter needed to be significant. Third, we wanted to create a fully enclosed system. However, freeing the filter from its housing improves airflow. This open intake kit delivers optimum airflow with a 5–10% advantage over the enclosed system, depending on application. A solution aimed at drag race enthusiasts.
With these elements combined and optimized, the result speaks for itself. This is one of the largest intake systems available for the Audi TT RS and RS3. Crafted from high-quality vacuum-infused prepreg carbon fiber (2x2 mm twill), it connects to a massive 6" BMC filter to ensure sufficient airflow at all times.
The intake pipe measures 6" at the filter connection and tapers toward the turbo, never narrowing beyond 4.5" at its tightest section.
The lightweight yet robust carbon construction is finished with a glossy, heat- and UV-resistant clear coat to protect against discoloration over time. Performance and appearance combined.
The system is available in several layouts. It is compatible with the 4.5" turbo inlet hose, offering three different CNC-machined turbo adapters, as well as the OE cast inlet pipe. This versatility allows compatibility with a wide range of turbo setups.
Adding the do88 inlet hose removes bottlenecks before the turbo, helping to avoid surge even at high power levels.
Tests conducted on the SuperFlow SF-1020 flow bench demonstrate the importance of the optional inlet hose. The intake pipe alone provides a 19% airflow increase. Combined with the 4.5" do88 inlet hose, total airflow increases by up to 76%.
The kit is available in four versions depending on turbo application:
- The intake system alone, connecting to the OEM cast inlet pipe.
- With do88 turbo inlet hose and CNC adapter (56.3 mm) for OE turbo.
- With do88 turbo inlet hose and CNC adapter (62.8 mm) for TTE 600, 625 V2 and 700 turbos.
- With do88 turbo inlet hose and CNC adapter (65.7 mm) for TTE 777 and 855 turbos.
