This kit is designed for high-horsepower applications and for enthusiasts who want to upgrade to the absolute best. The do88 turbo intake system provides significantly improved airflow compared to the OEM air box and intake pipe, verified using our SuperFlow SF-1020 flow bench.
The included aluminum intake pipe has an outer diameter of 70 mm (2 3/4") and is mandrel-bent to ensure optimal airflow. It connects to the turbocharger inlet via a custom-designed 4-ply silicone hose, engineered for smooth airflow and reinforced with internal steel wire to handle a wide pressure range.
For optimal fit, function, and appearance, the intake pipe features CNC-machined mounting brackets and an integrated mass air flow (MAF) sensor flange. The MAF flange is welded to a carefully selected pipe section with the correct airflow cross-section to ensure accurate sensor readings.
The included heat shield is designed to isolate the air filter from engine bay heat. A custom-shaped shield combined with rubber sealing protects the filter from hot air more effectively than most open intake systems. The filter is positioned to receive cold air from the front grille intake path.
For improved cold air supply, the original air guide can be replaced with a do88 air duct hose (part number AD89), allowing air to be routed from a preferred front-mounted location.
Airflow performance at 0.125 bar (1.81 psi) pressure drop:
do88 inlet pipe system: 653 CFM
OEM intake system: 452 CFM
The OEM intake system is designed for factory power levels. Increased power output can overwhelm the stock intake, making it harder for the turbocharger to draw sufficient air. This reduces efficiency and power. Even on engines with software tuning only, the do88 intake system delivers a clear performance improvement over the OEM air box and intake pipe.
