The do88 performance intercooler features an all-aluminum construction with CAD-designed, flow-optimized cast end tanks and an optimized core design to deliver maximum cooling efficiency with minimal pressure drop.
The OEM intercooler is designed for factory power levels. Increased boost pressure or aggressive driving may exceed its limits. After an engine software tune, the do88 performance intercooler provides a clear performance improvement. The OEM intercooler uses plastic end tanks that may fail under higher boost; the do88 intercooler significantly improves reliability.
The do88 performance intercooler features 2.5" (63 mm) hose connections compared to the OEM 2.25" (57 mm). The larger hose diameter improves airflow, which is why two silicone hoses are included to replace the original intercooler inlet and outlet hoses.
A common misconception is that an intercooler in this position cannot perform as well as a front-mounted intercooler (FMIC). In reality, the do88 intercooler outperforms many FMIC setups, which often use smaller cores and are partially blocked by the bumper beam, reducing cooling efficiency.
The do88 intercooler includes all required installation hardware and brackets for the radiator, AC condenser, and air guides. Installation instructions based on the Saab 9-3 are included as guidance.
