DESCRIPTION
Upgrade the braking performance of your Porsche 911 GT3/GT3RS/GT2RS 991 w/PCCB Iron Rotor Pad Shape with Girodisc 2-piece Brake Rotors A1-154.
The Girodisc system is a direct replacement for the OE disc; however, you must use the same pad shape that is used on the 991 GT3 with factory iron rotors. The annulus (pad swept height) of these pads is smaller than the large PCCB pads. This keeps the rotor weight reasonable and allows for better pad selection. If the rotor were made with the same annulus as the OEM PCCB rotors, it would be unnecessarily heavy.
The central hat section of the rotor is made from strictly U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum. The disc is made from proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and machined entirely in-house at Girodisc. The rotor uses a curved vane design, developed in racing, to act as a centrifugal pump that forces cooling air through the disc.
The rotor and hat feature a floating mount system with 12 high-strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured in the USA and cadmium-plated for long-lasting corrosion resistance. These pins handle braking loads while maintaining axial and radial float between the hat and disc. The pins are secured with class 12.9 cap screws and hardened washers. Anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side allow thermal expansion while eliminating rattle. The floating design also enables the rotor to self-center between the pads.
Once the Girodisc system is installed, simply replace the cast iron rotor when needed.
