When designing a new intake system for a turbocharged engine, three critical factors are vital: filtration, airflow, and thermal management. Our do88 intake system is engineered to optimize these elements, providing efficient air filtration, enhanced airflow, and low inlet temperatures for the turbos. The airboxes are precisely shaped and sized, using high-quality materials to maximize airflow to the engine and improve performance.
Elevated intake air temperatures negatively affect performance, as turbos must generate boost with hot, less dense air. A fully sealed intake system is essential to minimize Intake Air Temperatures (IATs). To overcome restrictions of the stock system, we added supplementary fresh air feeds behind the headlights. Large 7.8-inch airboxes provide sufficient clearance for CSL strut braces while ensuring optimal airflow volume.
Replacing the stock plastic intake pipes, we designed smooth carbon fiber tubes starting at 105mm (4.1 inches) at the air filter end, tapering to 3.25 inches to match our custom turbo inlets. Each tube houses a large, custom cotton gauze air filter, washable and reusable for durability and optimal performance.
Our intake system also includes custom aluminum turbo inlets, replacing restrictive OE plastic inlets (OE connections: 61mm and 72mm). Our inlets have 83mm connections and feature innovative sealing and adapter sleeves for compatibility with OE and hybrid turbos (e.g., Pure S58 STG2+, TTE940), ensuring proper fit with compressor housing sleeves and turbo inlets.
